dubexmachina #7 was at august 09th 2008 with scuba (hotflush, soul jazz, abucs; london/berlin), aramis (contre-temps; colmar/strasbourg), guyus (elephant prod.; basel) & new.com (comfortnoise, p45; zürich) - scuba is the alias of paul rose, founder of hotflush recordings. his early shows on pirate radio in london led to a close involvement with the beginnings of the scene that became known as dubstep. the debut hotflush 12” hit the street in late 2003 and the label has gone on to become one of the most distinctive and innovative dubstep labels. the scuba sound has developed into a fusion of towering bass, electronic melodies and intense snares. since 2005 he has released a slew of innovative tracks that defy the norm of the main-stream dubstep scene, on hotflush and other labels including soul jazz.
dubexmachina #6 was at may 11th 2008 with caspa (dub police, sub soldiers, london), guyus (elephant prod., basel) & new.com (p45/comfortnoise, zürich) - with caspa (dub police, sub soldiers; london), we scored one of londons most interesting and adept dubstep-djs. the witty melodies and breathtaking basslines of his sound make you move – and leave an unforgettable listening experience. caspa's a declared lover of film, working in choice quotations into his productions. the motto of his favourite label "dub police" says: "ya ave a license fah dem dubz". the quote hints at another aspect of this evening: dub & reggae, dressed in contemporary electronic club-sounds! bringing the bass alongside caspa will be two swiss dubstep pioneers, guyus (elephant prod.; basel) & new.com (comfortnoise.com, p45.ch; zürich). don't sleep on this!
dubexmachina #3 was at december 5th 2007 with marlow (hotflush, boka, black acre, storming; uk) & new.com (comfortnoise/p45) feat. c4tr (nxt lvl) - with his brilliant tracks on highly acclaimed labels such as „hotflush“, „boka“, „black acre“ and „storming“, marlow belongs to the hard core of southlondons dubstep scene. his affinity towards opulent melodies and catchy arrangements proves not only an outstanding talent and originality, but also the incredible frankness of dubstep. when marlow is touching a gregorian chant, the outcome is a mind-blowing bass-monster. for he is also knowing about the qualities of vinyl, marlow cut a row of fresh dubplates just for his gig at zurich’s “zukunft”!
